At approximately 4:20 pm on September 27, 2010 the HVFD was dispatched to a two car motor vehicle accident on Miami Ave. at the entrance to the Amsterdam High School. A car exiting the High School turning west on Miami Ave. was said to have slid on wet pavement into the path of a minivan going east. Both vehicles received extensive damage and had to be towed from the scene. HVFD Fire Police shut down Miami Ave in both directions while crews worked at the scene.
The occupants of the minivan were checked out at the scene by our EMT's. One occupant of the car, who had unspecified injuries, was treated at the scene by our EMS and GAVAC personnel and transported to St. Mary's hospital for further treatment.
The NYS Police investigated the accident. Tow trucks from Vern's Auto removed both vehicles from the scene.
